This is Dexter on the hunt for his favorite prey, the wild and wily honey bee. He stands as still as can be, letting them get closer and closer until, BAM! he pounces. With a few quick bites he eats his enemy even as it tries to stings his mouth, nose, and throat he evades it’s every movement. No matter how many times we try to dissuade him from his quest, he never stops from his endless bee eating tasks.

This delicate butter recipe is the perfect compliment for baby and bridal showers, brunches or even just to accompany with your favorite breakfast. Not only does this butter have a wonderful bright color, but the flavor is rich and creamy with wonderful spicy notes of onion, garlic, and even hints of radish all from four simple ingredients.
Nasturtium Butter Recipe:
12-16 Nasturtium flowers
3 – 4 Nasturtium leaves
2 Tablespoons chives
8 ounces of unsalted butter
1. Take out your butter and leave it out on the counter to soften, while you work. You can use salted or unsalted butter. I prefer salted for the extra flavor it brings out in your finished butter.

2. After picking your flowers thoroughly wash them with cold water to get off all the insects or dirt, these flowers are hardy so don’t worry about damaging them. Make sure that the flowers you use are not treated with insecticides.

Last year I started the spring with two simple Iris’s, that I found on sale at the home and garden store after they had all ready bloomed. A pale white Iris with a purple tinge and a deep orange pistils, with large ruffled petals and a deep cobalt blue Iris that had just the tiniest white and orange spattering of pistils, and even larger petals but this spring they had managed to cross with every Iris in the neighborhood, giving an amazing array of colors and textures. Thin pure white Iris’s with red and orange striping, even thinner white and blue Iris’s growing out of the Indigo clump that were veined with a deep indigo and spotted with red and orange.
